Roamin' brings out the best in Camera Man, Carlos!

Carlos Cox - Camera Man

I was born in Barbados and grew up in St. George, yes, one of two parishes on the island without beach. So guess what, I am not a good swimmer!

When I left school, I wanted to study Engineering. But when I signed up for the class it was full, so I decided to wait a year at home. While waiting, I took a job at ICVS (a video production company) and the boss, Mr. Callender, took me under his wing. When that year was up, I had reached a crossroad. Decision time…and I chose television and video production to be the Career of my Life!

I love working with Roamin’ because the show brings out the best in my camera skills. I also love the hype vibes in most locations from people of all walks of life, whenever Roamin’ TV is in the building! My most memorable moment with Roamin’ to date was Jouvert Morning, Vincy Mas 2k8 in St. Vincent when I had the opportunity to not only see how Vincentians partied in the streets to the hit song, “Head Bad,” but also party and work with them to one of my favourite soca tracks of all times.

Otherwise, my family is my life along with my job. One day I hope to have a school where I can help take some of the guys off the block.

Get Bizzy on Roamin'

"Get Bizzy" shooting and editing on Roamin'

"Wah Wow, let's do this!" is the famous phrase used by the big man in the business, when he is about to embark on a new and exciting project. The man to whom we refer is Mr. Selwyne “Get Bizzy” Browne, well known for creating, directing and producing some of the hottest music videos, commercials and TV shows in Barbados. Here from almost the inception of the programme, Mr. Get Bizzy is a camera man and editor on Roamin'!

Selwyne’s interest for the camera all started when he commenced his tertiary education in the study of Micro Computer Technology and Computer Programming. His journey begun shortly after receiving his degree, when he was simply asked to hold a camcorder to capture footage of a family gathering and as we would usually say ….the rest was history.

With a deep love and passion for film directing, Mr. Get Bizzy devoted most of his time in nurturing his fascination by purchasing software tutorials and books which helped to lay a solid foundation.

During these developmental stages, a small group was born. The group comprised of Selwyne and some of his friends who together enrolled to study Digital Film Making to hone their skills. Months later, the group entered three short films in a national competition held by NIFCA and eventually won best short film. Their accolades include an award from the NCSA for a short feature on substance abuse.

With a brand new company called Zotikos Studios, which means to give life, Mr. Get Bizzy is definitely a breath of fresh air and is the new heart beat of Barbados in cinematography. Selwyne can be praised for producing top commercials, projects which include Cohobblopot 2008 and TV shows such as Riddim Express aired on Carib Vision, Roamin TV aired on CBS and CBC Barbados, Access TV, The National Cultural Foundation footage of Crop Over 2008 and Business Watch all aired on CBC Barbados.

He has produced some of the hottest music videos in Barbados which include My Boo performed by Omar feat Hawkeye and Buggy with his Outside Lady. These two videos were both awarded Best Music Videos at the Barbados Music Awards. Other videos include All Nite and Push Back/Love De Carnival performed by Tarah Holdipp, the latter which spent 3 weeks at #5 on Torontolime.com and has enjoyed a 12 week run at #5 on Synergy TV, Trinidad, Call De Police performed by the Poundas, Tru Dat and Nothing But Love, A tribute to the late Wizzard of the Poundas performed by Inchiz, Move Wemixx-Trezey, Billy Kincaid and Fitzroy, Totally Unacceptable performed by Keisha Christian and Handle Yah Bizniz performed by one of Barbados’ leading bands Krosfyah. His team also served as DP, Grips, Lighting and editing on the band’s hit tune Nah Missing Me.

Selwyne has teamed up with three (3) other production companies -Marnikomedia, 246 Media and Renaissance Movie Creations to form the Barbados Media Group United (BMGU) with a view of facilitating larger projects and to satisfy the increasing demand in creating music videos and TV shows. One of the group’s long term goals is to later produce short movies and full length films.

With a do-it-yourself attitude of that of his earlier mentor Film Director, Robert Rodriguez, Selwyne “Get Bizzy” Browne possesses some of the greatest qualities to maintain longevity in this growing and competitive business of entertainment.

Gabby - Roamin's Carnival Lady

Gabrielle Lee Look - Host/VJ

Behind the smile, there is seriousness of purpose!!!

I am 100% Trini and I tend to be passionate about almost everything I do. Many may call me “hyper” but I can’t help it, that’s just me. I love to eat and watch chick flicks a combination of the two is a match made in heaven. My mom, my sister and my closest friends are my world. Liming has to be the thing I enjoy the most, apart from talking, laughing and taking pictures, which I am obsessed with doing. I live for seizing the moments “Carpe Diem.”

I became a Roamin’ host by accident. Some footage that I had from a television project at university fell into the hands of a Roamin’ producer. I still think they’re crazy for hiring me. It’s been a blast though since I like meeting new people, especially people from different countries. My favourite memory thus far on the show was interviewing Lil Jon, who was absolutely hilarious.

I really think life is about Living, Loving, Laughing and Learning so that’s what I try to do!!!

Jessica - Roamin's Helen from the West

Jessica St. Rose – Host

I am the vibrant St. Lucian host, Jessica St. Rose, a.k.a “the Jumba Lady.” I got that name from one of my first songs that took me to the Soca Monarch Finals, Jumba (which is also a dance). That’s right; I am also a soca artist!

I grew up in the northern country side of St. Lucia in a community called Boguis Babonneau with my grandparents. I love singing, performing, cooking, dancing, partying and traveling. My favorite food of all times is corn pie!

Working with Roamin’ is quite interesting. I like many things and dislike few. Here they are:

* I like meeting different people and networking
* I love working at the parties and especially carnival
* The Roamin’ crew is fun
* I get tired easily so I don’t like having to do different takes which can get very frustrating for everyone

Nonetheless, I love Roamin’ and one day hope to roam to Trinidad for carnival! Oh yes, and one of my favourite quotes is “how is me ah!”

Keann - Roamin's Soca Queen!

Keann Walters – Host/VJ

I wear many hats! And I am always looking for a new business ventures to ad to my plate. A soca artist by profession, singer, entertainer, entrepreneur, and a television host. One of the Roamin’ hosts to be exact!

Whenever I recall how I landed the spot on Roamin’, I laugh, and this is the story: While attending a radio interview to talk about my music, I saw a poster promoting Roamin’s VJ competition, “the next Roamin’ host.” I asked about it (and knowing that broadcasting was on my next thing to do list) I immediately said, “What, this job is mine!”

I had always watched Roamin’ and was a huge fan. Whenever it aired I was sure to be watching. When the big audition day arrived, I was the first at the venue, first to do an interview and after going through to the next round, I was feeling very confident of a win and as they say,” the rest was history”!

I am a former student of the St. Leonard’s girls Secondary School, now Lester Vaughn Secondary School. And I also graduated with an Associate Degree in Mass Communications – Broadcasting from the Barbados Community College.

A down-to-earth person by nature, I can relate and talk to anyone, and I try to fill my life with diversity and possibilities. Singing is another love of mine, and I have entertained thousands by traveling the world over with some of Barbados’ biggest bands, including Krosfyah and Square One, and have shared stages with the likes of Machel Montano, Fayann Lyons, and many more. I am also a two-time Barbados Music Award (BMA) winner.

I am a fanatic animal lover, and one of my biggest passions is food. I really love to cook and own scores of cookbooks from all around the world. Traveling, watching television, and shopping are my other passions, and shopping has led me to be an entrepreneur opening Celebrity Babes Boutique back in 2007, which caters to the fashion needs of females between the ages of 19 to early 30s.

Daana Linton - the dancing lady of Roamin'

Daana Linton – Host/VJ, ROAMIN"

I'm a born and bred Bajan, despite what anyone else may tell you.

Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE to dance. In fact, I'm currently the top female Latin and Ballroom dancer in Barbados, but besides that, I just like to shake my booty in general. Go ahead and try me: beat two sticks together and see what happens.

I believe that a higher power guides and protects us and that we all could use a little daily meditation and prayer to keep us centered and focused on the positive.

Little known fact about me: I am NOT cool, never have been, and probably never will be! My super-power is that I have the ability to make anything sound cheesy! I like being a Roamin' host because it lets me get a peek at what all the actual cool people are up to! Haha!
The downside to being a Roamin' host is that the camera men keep trying to catch me scantily-clad, on film!

One of my mottos is "Be The Change You Want To See In The World" so I make an effort to be environmentally-conscious, and to be polite and tactful in my interactions with others. I believe that good manners is what separate us from the animals.
